Students can choose from a variety of subject areas in which to spend their three weeks, while also participating in extracurricular activities, and exploring New York City. Students leave the program with evaluation letters from their instructors, as well as a statement of completion from Columbia.

The Conservation Science Intensive is a 5-day, 4-night residential program, based out of Audubon Canyon Ranch's Martin Griffin Preserve on Bolinas Lagoon and includes day trips to some of ACR's other preserves and local protected lands. While learning and working together, participants explore topics including natural history, conservation, leadership, outdoor skills, biological illustration, research design and ethics, nature writing, equity in science and women in leadership. This collaborative expeditionary program challenges participants - individually and collectively - physically, creatively, and intellectually, as they work with and learn from ACR's highly-skilled women conservation biologists, ecologists, educators and guest artists, writers, and musicians.

The UMaine Pulp & Paper Foundation's "Consider Engineering" program is offered three times in July to groups of 34 high school students who have completed their junior year of study and who are well-suited to becoming engineers. The four-day, free of charge, on-campus "camp" gives students opportunities to experience the rewards and challenges of both college life and technical careers. Students participate in about 20 activities and are introduced to nearly two dozen UMaine faculty, engineers and engineering students. Admission to the program is competitive with about 2/3 of the applicants being selected to participate.
