Our annual science institute Is held on the Bethel College campus in North Newton, KS. The institute offers opportunities to participate in research investigations in several science-related fields, including biology, psychology, chemistry, engineering, and mathematics. This unique pre-college summer science program provides students with the rare opportunity to learn about the newest developments in next-generation DNA sequencing via hands-on experiments and research. Students are guided and mentored by Tufts faculty and graduate students and are able to participate in nearly every aspect of an active research environment, including preparing a proposal, data analysis, collaboration, and mentoring.

From biotechnology to natural healing, there has never been so much happening in the field of biological research as it applies to the health professions. Students participating in Cornell University's Biological Research and the Health Professions program will spend six intensive weeks exploring different aspects of life as a researcher or doctor. Activities include dissecting a chicken with a world-famous zoologist, learning about non-traditional medical therapies, measuring electrical communication signals in living fish, exploring space research with a physiologist from NASA, talking with a top cancer researcher, and much, much more.

Blacks at Microsoft (BAM) is a company-sponsored employee network dedicated to supporting the continued growth and development of black employees at Microsoft Corporation. Applicants for the Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship must be high-school seniors of African descent (for example, African-American, African, or Ethiopian); must plan to attend a four-year college or university in the fall of the year following high-school graduation and plan to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or select business programs (such as finance, business administration, or marketing). A minimum 3.3 GPA and financial need is required.

The USC Bridge Institute coordinates a paid summer research program, Bridge UnderGraduate Science (BUGS). We have undergraduates and high school students conduct research in a faculty's lab, attend weekly activities with the other BUGS participants, and present their research at a final symposium in August. The research conducted over the summer must be related to the improving our understanding of the human body or human health. Stipend $3,000.

Virginia Tech's College of Engineering invites you to participate in a program called C-Tech2 - Computers and Technology at Virginia Tech. A primary focus of the program is to help develop and sustain the interests of women in engineering. The program allows you to explore applications of engineering in a way that is fun and exciting. You will spend the majority of your time involved in hands-on activities designed to increase your interest in and knowledge of applications of engineering to real world situations. The target population for the program is rising junior and senior high school girls.
