One of the best thing about Emory's program is the number of choices. How long, credit or no credit, specific subjects, or you can choose all of it. One of the best, however, is the Environmental Studies and Sustainability Institute at Washington University in St. Louis. Over the course of the Institute's two weeks, students will learn about basic ecological principles and discover how environmental studies incorporates concepts from politics, economics, ethics, philosophy, and social sciences. Gaining hands-on experience in forensic science while earning six college credits may sound too good to be true, but that's exactly what students get in the Forensic Science Program at Syracuse University. Over the course of six weeks and two classes, students become a part of an actual forensic crime scene team that gathers forensic evidence from a simulated crime scene. Class lectures and various guest speakers provide basic background information, while a variety of hands-on lab activities provide an enhanced view of such topics as blood and hair analysis, DNA, forensic psychology, drug chemistry and toxicology, fingerprints, soil comparisons, arson investigations, and so much more.

In partnership with Vermont-based NGO, PH International, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow has launched a 6-week summer US and Russia exchange program called 'Space-Oriented Learning for Americans and Russians' (SOLAR Program). The Geosciences Bridge Program is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). It is a 6-week paid ($500/week stipend + housing + meals) internships at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) The Program provides an opportunity for graduating High School seniors, particularly from underrepresented groups,who are US citizens or permanent residents, with at least a 2.7 GPA who have been accepted at an accredited college or university, to study and participate in hand-on activities this summer in marine geology, physical oceanography, atmospheric science, marine biology, marine chemistry, biogeochemistry, and remote sensing/GIS.
