  1. Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship - Supports one to two years of graduate study in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program in the United States

  2. Boren Fellowship - Provides funding opportunities for U.S. graduate students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad

  3. Rhodes Scholarship - Each year, 32 scholars from the United States are among more than 95 Rhodes Scholars worldwide who take up degree courses at Oxford University

  4. American Association of University Woman (AAUW) American Fellowship Dissertation - provides fellowships for women pursuing full-time study to complete dissertations, conducting postdoctoral research full time, or preparing research for publication for 8 consecutive weeks

  5. Jennings Randolph Peace Scholarship Dissertation Program - awards non-residential Peace Scholar Dissertation Fellowships to students enrolled in U.S. universities and who are writing doctoral dissertations on topics related to international conflict management and peace building
  6. Southern Regional Education Board Doctoral Award - offers three years of direct program support and two years of institutional support from the scholar’s college, university and/or department, in the form of a $20,000 annual stipend
  7. Southern Regional Education Board Dissertation Award - offers a one-year, $20,000 stipend, university-covered tuition and fees (unless the institution prohibits a fee waiver), a $500 research allowance and professional development support
  8. Chateaubriand Fellowship Program - supports outstanding Ph.D. students from American universities who wish to conduct research in France for a period ranging from 4 to 9 months
  9. Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fund - Graduate school fellowships in any recognized field of study in the humanities, social sciences or natural sciences 
  10. Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund - aids people active in movements for social and economic justice
  11. Institute for Humane Studies PhD Scholarship - awards the IHS PhD Scholarships each year to promising students dedicated to developing, teaching, and applying the principles of a free society
  12. Institute for Humane Studies Fellowship - A renewable, non-residency fellowship program for IHS alumni, the Humane Studies Fellowship awards up to $15,000 per year to support graduate students in PhD programs
  13. Phillips Exeter Academy Writer in Residence (George Bennett Fellowship) -  to provide time and freedom from material considerations to a person seriously contemplating or pursuing a career as a writer
  14. American Educational Research Association (AERA) Minority Dissertation Fellowship Program in Education Research - to provide support for doctoral dissertation research, to advance education research by outstanding minority graduate students, and to improve the quality and diversity of university faculties

  15. National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship Program -  fellowships support individuals whose dissertations show potential for bringing fresh and constructive perspectives to the history, theory, analysis, or practice of formal or informal education anywhere in the world

  16. Point Foundation The National LGBTQ Scholarship Fund - empowers promising lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential – despite the obstacles often put before them – to make a significant impact on society

  17. Center for Engaged Scholarship (CES) Dissertation Fellowship - accepting applications from Ph.D students in the social sciences who have already completed all departmental and institutional requirements for the Ph.D. degree, including approval of the dissertation proposal
  18. American Political Science Association Minority Fellowship Program - a fellowship competition for individuals from underrepresented backgrounds applying to or in the early stages of doctoral programs in political science
  19. Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago's Academic Scholarship Program -  $500,000 is available each year for full-time students, predominantly those legally domiciled in the metropolitan Chicago area, with career promise in their chosen fields



  1. The Hertz Foundation Fellowship - supports graduate students working towards the Ph.D. degree in the applied physical, biological and engineering sciences
  2. Ford Foundation PreDoctoral Fellowship -  provide three years of support for individuals engaged in graduate study leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) degree
  3. Ford Foundation Dissertation Fellowship -  provide one year of support for individuals working to complete a dissertation leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) degree
  4. National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate Fellowship -  highly competitive, portable fellowship that is awarded to U.S. citizens and nationals who intend to pursue a doctoral degree in one of fifteen supported disciplines
  5. Department of Defense SMART Scholarship Program - an opportunity for students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines to receive a full scholarship and be gainfully employed upon degree completion
  6. GEM Fellowship Program (MS Engineering Fellowship Program) -  objective of this program is to promote the benefits of a masters degree within industry
  7. GEM Fellowship Program (Ph.D. Engineering Fellowship Program) - objective of this program is to offer doctoral fellowships to underrepresented minority students who have either completed, are currently enrolled in a master’s in engineering program, or received admittance into a PhD program directly from a bachelor’s degree program

  9. National Science Fellowship (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) - supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education
  10. HHMI Gilliam Fellowship for Advanced Study - support exceptional graduate students who are committed to increasing diversity among scientific leaders, especially those students who will go on to become faculty members at colleges and universities
  11. U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Computational Science Graduate Fellowship -  provides outstanding benefits and opportunities to students pursuing doctoral degrees in fields that use high-performance computing to solve complex science and engineering problems
  12. Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) National Fellowship Program - to help increase knowledge in the natural sciences and to encourage research careers in the sciences by women.

  13. Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust - open to students in any discipline, including international students, who are currently enrolled in a university or college located within the United States
  14. National Physical Science Consortium (NPSC) - welcomes applications from any qualified U.S. citizen who has the ability to pursue graduate work at an NPSC member institution
  15. American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship - open to post baccalaureate, pre-doctoral Ph.D. (or equivalent) student who seeks research training with a sponsor/mentor prior to embarking on a research career
  16. American Society for Microbiology (AMS) Robert D. Watkins Graduate Research Fellowship -  aimed at highly competitive graduate students who are enrolled in a Ph.D. program and who have completed their graduate course work in the microbiological sciences
  17. Society for Neuroscience - Neuroscience Scholars Program - a two-year training program open to underrepresented graduate students and postdoctoral researchers
  18. Thermo Fisher Scientific Antibody Scholarship Program - provides educational opportunities for future generations of science scholars, we’re offering $40,000 in scholarship funding to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited college for the upcoming semester
  19. Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (Parent F31) -  to enable promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting dissertation research in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers
  20. Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Individual Predoctoral Fellowship to Promote Diversity in Health-Related Research (Parent F31 - Diversity) - to enhance the diversity of the health-related research workforce by supporting the research training of predoctoral students from population groups that have been shown to be underrepresented in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research workforce
  21. Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Fellowship for Students at Institutions Without NIH-Funded Institutional Predoctoral Dual-Degree Training Programs (Parent F30) - to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g. DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists
  22. Science & Technology Policy Fellowships - provides opportunities for scientists and engineers to learn first-hand about policymaking while contributing their knowledge and analytical skills in the federal policy realm
  23. Microsoft PhD Fellowship Program - two-year fellowship program for PhD students at participating U.S. or Canadian universities enrolled in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics, or a department within the scope of these areas
  24. Amelia Earhart Fellowship - open to women of any nationality pursuing a Ph.D./doctoral degree, who demonstrate a superior academic record in the field of aerospace-related sciences or aerospace-related engineering
  25. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Sea Grant John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship -  open to any student, regardless of citizenship, who, on February 21, 2017, is enrolled towards a degree in a graduate or professional program, that have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources
  26. Link Foundation Energy Fellowships -  offers 2-year fellowships of $28,500/year for students working toward a Ph.D. degree
  27. Data Science Fellowship - open to anyone who has obtained, or is within 1 year of obtaining, their master's or PhD degree in any field
  28. American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Foundation - to provide financial assistance to graduate students (currently enrolled in master’s degree or doctorate programs) whose thesis research has application to the search for and development of petroleum and energy-mineral resources, and/or to related environmental geology issues
  29. Facebook Graduate Fellowship - open to PhD students globally who are enrolled in an accredited university in any country
  30. Livermore Graduate Scholar Program - open to graduate students currently at Ph.D.-granting universities in the United States who have completed their core courses and any relevant comprehensive and/or qualifying examination in order to pursue research leading to a Ph.D. degree
  31. Linda Hall Library Fellowship - invites pre-and post-doctoral scholars of exceptional promise to apply for its 2017/18 fellowships in the history of science and related areas of science and technology studies
  32. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers Graduate Teaching Fellowships - open to outstanding doctoral candidates in mechanical engineering education (and related engineering fields), particularly women and minorities
  33. Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship - academic high-achievers that are a full time undergraduate or graduate student in technical fields.
  34. Tylenol Future Care Scholarship - award annual scholarships to well deserving students pursuing careers in healthcare
  35. Hydro Research Foundation -  awards are designed to allow outstanding early-career researchers to facilitate research related to conventional and pumped storage hydropower
  36. NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship - applications from accredited U.S. universities on behalf of individuals pursuing Masters or Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees in Earth and space sciences, or related disciplines, at respective institutions.

  38. Google Lime Scholarship Program - provides scholarships and networking retreats for computer science students with disabilities
  39. Women Techmakers Scholars Program - an academic scholarship, awarded based on academic performance, leadership, and impact on the community of women in tech
  40. Hispanics in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Scholarship - goal of the program is to ensure STEM college retention with a 3.0 grade point average or higher; to guarantee college graduation with an undergraduate technical degree in four-five years; and, to contribute to Hispanic communities by producing STEM role models for future generations and securing the country's place as the finest technological leader in the world
  41. Hispanic Scholarship Fund - Assists students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree by awarding scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000
  42. Microsoft Diversity Conference Scholarship - Microsoft awards tuition scholarships and conference scholarships each year to encourage students to pursue studies in Computer Science and related STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) disciplines

  43. MyBioSource Scholarship Program - opening up doors to thriving students allowing them to explore the endless possibilities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics

  44. Graduate Diversity Enrichment Program -  provides a total of $5,000 over two years to support underrepresented Ph.D. candidates enrolled in a North Carolina university and conducting biomedical research. 

Medical School


  1. National Health Service Corps Scholarships - scholarship pays tuition, fees, other educational costs, and provides a living stipend in return for a commitment to work at least 2 years at an NHSC-approved site in a medically underserved community
  2. McKinsey & Company MD Fellowship Program - offers medical students between their third and fourth years the opportunity to spend two years as a McKinsey consultant, working with healthcare leaders in the private, public, and social sectors
  3. Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Medical Research Fellows Program - encourages the development of future medical-scientists by providing a year of full-time, mentored laboratory research training to medical, dental, and veterinary students who have demonstrated an interest in and commitment to biomedical research, but who are not enrolled in an MD/PhD (or equivalent) program
  4. National Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Program - national scholarship program targeted at Hispanic students who are committed to careers in health care and enrolled full-time in dental, medical, nursing, pharmacy, public health, and policy schools
  5. Women in Medicine Leadership Scholarships -  presents four, $5,000 LGBTQ Leadership Scholarships for female medical students enrolled in in their first, second or third year of allopathic, osteopathic, or naturopathic medical schools in the United States or Canada in 2018
  6. Hospital for Special Care Scholarship Program -  offers scholarships annually to students pursuing initial degrees in medicine, nursing and physical therapy
  7. Piscano Scholars Leadership Program -  offers many career development opportunities, as well as scholarship funding, to the future leaders of family medicine
